This website is a personal portfolio of Büro Volker Heuer.

I'm a Munich based art director and designer. Furthermore, I work as an independent communication consultant and concept developer, providing clients with integrated marketing and design solutions. I'm glad to have a pool of partners and experts I work with, so that we can handle any size of project and always find the perfect combination and solution to our client needs.

I also work as a freelancer for advertising agencies, design studios and art departments.

Recently I have been invited to teach and run workshops at the Federal College of Advertising Design which is a really exciting new thing to do.

My experience stems from my past work for national and international leading brands. Much of it has been nominated for national and international awards by several design institutions such as the Art Directors Club (Germany), Deutscher Designer Club (Germany), Graphis (USA), Creativity International Awards (USA) and LeadAcademy (Germany).

My career began with an apprenticeship as a visual merchandiser at Sporthaus Schuster, Munich. There, I acquired first skills in interior design and 3-dimensional communication. Subsequently, I studied advertising, graphic design and exhibition design in Stuttgart, which I have finished successfully, obtaining a master degree from the Federal College of Advertising Design in 2005.

Back in Munich, I have been working as an art director in the creative departments for renowned advertising agencies such as Xynias, Wetzel (now Hello AG), .start (now Interone) and Heye & Partner (Member of the DDB Worldwide Communications Group). There, together with my team I defined multi-communication strategies, developed new business and design concepts and created advertising solutions for national, international and new business clients in a wide host of industries. These included automotive, food, publishing, sport and telecommunication. Moreover, I worked as a editorial designer and illustrator in the art department at the highly awarded Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin and the German GQ Magazine.

My personal interests lie with independent contemporary art, street art/urban art, photography, international youth culture, sport and extreme sport as well as outdoor activity and international travel. I also like condensed fonts, grid systems, b&w, the mountains, cinnamon, skittles, the sound of an vacuum cleaner pipe when it sucks up little stones, a runner's high and the time 12:34 on a digital and 10:10 on a analog clock.
